# Apple Ads

> How Qonversion joins Apple Ads spend with the subscription revenue those installs produce, where you read it — dashboard, REST API v4 or MCP — and how to connect your Apple Ads account.

Qonversion connects to your Apple Ads account, joins Apple's spend and delivery data with the subscription revenue Qonversion already tracks, and reports both against the same campaigns, ad groups and keywords.

## What you get

| | |
| - | - |
| **Revenue, not installs** | Every campaign, ad group and keyword is reported against trials, subscriptions, renewals and revenue from the users it acquired — not only against impressions and downloads. |
| **Attribution through Apple's own API** | Attribution goes through the Apple Ads Attribution API (AdServices) and the Qonversion SDK. It works independently of SKAdNetwork: no SKAdNetwork postbacks are needed. |
| **One table, both sides** | Apple's spend and delivery next to Qonversion's revenue, ARPU and ARPPU. In the Apple Ads report (for accounts with it enabled) you choose and reorder the columns. |
| **Readable by code** | For accounts with the Apple Ads report enabled, the same data is available through REST API v4 and as a CSV export. |

## What Qonversion reads from Apple

Qonversion authorizes against your Apple Ads account and pulls the campaign structure plus spend, impressions, taps and installs from Apple's reporting API. Those Apple-sourced metrics — spend, impressions, taps, Apple-reported installs, average CPA, CPM and CPT, and keywords — need **Apple Ads Advanced**.

**Apple Ads Basic is supported for attribution.** Qonversion still attributes installs and revenue through AdServices; Basic only lacks keyword data and access to Apple's reporting API, so the Apple-sourced columns stay empty. See [Apple's comparison of Basic and Advanced](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions).

Columns from Qonversion — revenue, purchases, trials, subscriptions, ARPU, ARPPU — come from your own purchase data.

Two counts that look alike and are not:

* **Installs** are Apple's tap-through conversions: a download within 30 days of a tap on the ad. Apple also reports view-through conversions with a one-day window, as a separate metric that is not in the Installs column.
* **Users** are customers the Qonversion SDK attributed through AdServices. So **CPA** is spend per Apple install, and **CAC** is spend per paying user; they answer different questions.

A dash in the report means no value is available, not zero. The full column list is on [Apple Ads dashboard](/docs/apple-search-ads-analytics); how to read the numbers, and how to compare them with the Apple Ads console, is in [Read the Apple Ads report](/docs/apple-ads-report).

## Where you read it

* **In the dashboard** — **Analytics → Apple Search Ads**; the menu item still carries Apple's former product name. The newer Apple Ads report, with cohort windows and a Gross or Net revenue basis, is available to accounts with it enabled — contact support.
* **Through REST API v4** — three read endpoints: the report, a daily series and the connection status. They use your project Secret Key and answer for accounts with Apple Ads enabled; other accounts receive `404`. See [Apple Ads](/reference/v4/apple-ads) in the API reference.
* **Through MCP** — the same reads as tools for an agent, as a closed beta available to accounts with Apple Ads enabled — contact support. See [Apple Ads via MCP](/docs/mcp-apple-ads).

Cohort windows, from `D0` to `Lifetime`, let you compare campaigns of different ages instead of comparing a young cohort with an old one. They come in two readings. **Growing** counts everything observed so far and keeps moving; **Mature** counts closed cohort days only. Check which one you are looking at before quoting a number — and even a closed window can still change when a late refund arrives.

Qonversion reads your campaigns, ad groups and keywords from Apple Ads; you create and change them in Apple Ads.

## How to connect Apple Ads

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect with Apple">
    Open the Apple Ads settings of your Qonversion project and use **Connect with Apple** to choose the advertising account and grant access. You don't need to create or upload a private API key. If your project still uses an Apple Ads API key, use **Migrate to Apple authorization** on the same page — and never send a private key or client secret to support. Details: [Connect Apple Ads](/docs/apple-search-ads).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable attribution collection in the SDK">
    Call `collectAppleSearchAdsAttribution()` after the Qonversion SDK is configured. The method name still carries Apple's former product name. Call it regardless of how the user answered the tracking prompt — otherwise attribution is collected incompletely.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give the data time to arrive">
    Attributed installs appear after users open your app. Campaign metrics appear as Apple reports them, and Apple notes that a newly activated campaign can take [24–48 hours](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/reporting/0007-tips-for-solving-performance-issues) to gather performance data.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you do not see the Apple Ads dashboard in your Qonversion account at all, contact support.
